Miss Ft. Worth International 2010Rachael Lynée BurnsFebruary 3, 2010
Kristin Koether, Executive State Director of the Miss Texas International Pageant, and the International Pageant officials have named Rachael Lynée Burns Miss Fort Worth International 2010. She will be competing for the Miss Texas International title this March. Rachael Lynée is a 26-year-old Texas native who believes this pageant actually found her. She said she was “so surprised to get an email from Mrs. Koether one day asking [her] to apply to be part of the pageant as Miss Fort Worth.” She has a list of things she wants to do in her lifetime with a few of those being visiting Ireland, learning to play her favorite song on the piano, and being in a beauty pageant. She is a professional dancer, model, and actress, has a dance degree from the University of North Texas, and plans to begin a Bachelor of Science nursing program this fall. She is currently working on her prerequisite courses at Tarrant County College and was recently accepted to Texas Woman’s University. She discovered her interest for nursing when she realized from 7.5 years of waiting tables that she loves to serve people. Serving combined with an interest in medicine lead her to look into and pursue nursing. Miss Burns is passionate about her favorite charity organization, which is also her platform for the Miss Texas Pageant in March. The organization is called Falling Whistles, and she claims this organization also found her. “There are no coincidences” she says, and this charity is the main reason why she is pursing the Miss Texas International title. She was volunteering at an event in November of 2008 when a representative from Falling Whistles gave her a whistle and told her the story. “I identified with it so much, because dancing and creative therapy are what got me through my hardships,” she says.
