Click here for pictures of the event! Laura Johnson representing Toombs County captured the 68th Annual Miss Georgia Forestry title on June 16th in Tifton, Georgia. The pageant was held at the Performing Arts Center in Tifton. Two hundred seventy four girls throughout Georgia representing their counties and colleges participated in the pageant. Miss Georgia Forestry Jonna Wilson and radio personality Chris Becham served as master and mistress of ceremonies.
The first runner up was Shana Johnson representing Thomas County; second runner up was Keegan Westberry representing Glynn County; third runner up was Brianne Baggett representing Lee County; and fourth runner up was Melanie Hollingsworth representing Wayne County.
The remaining semifinalists were: Ashley Lane representing Bulloch County; Kayla Mizell representing Bacon County; Carmelia Turner representing Jeff Davis County; April Hollingsworth representing Grady County; and Alexa Yarberry representing Coffee County.
Laura received a $4,000.00 cash scholarship along with the official Miss Georgia Forestry crown, rhinestone studded sash, crowning pin, silver engraved tray, robe, and over $1,000.00 worth of gifts. Laura's picture will be placed on the Georgia Forestry calendar and distributed throughout Georgia. Laura will serve as Georgia's Ambassador for the upcoming year in promoting Georgia's Number One Industry, Forestry.
Laura will be traveling the State of Georgia and promoting the Forestry Industry by appearing at public speaking engagements, festivals, the Georgia National Fair, the Georgia AG Expo, the Georgia Agricultural Day at the Capitol, Legislative Day at the Capitol and many more events. Laura will make around 40 appearances this upcoming year including being featured in a statewide television commercial.
The newly crowned queens will now advance to the Miss US National Forestry Pageant to be held in Tifton on Labor Day weekend. The Miss Georgia Forestry Pageant is one of the largest providers of scholarships and prizes in Georgia, giving over $60,000.00 in prizes and scholarships yearly.

Emerald is the 16 year old daughter of Phillip and Michelle McGuoirk. Her platform is Environmental Awareness. She is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Ineract Club, Science Club, FBLA, Anchor Club, Sr. Beta Club, Vodational Occupational Clubs of America, Lady Indians Soccer Team, Shibach Dance Team, Family community Career Leaders of America and Triangle Pond Farm Equestrian Team. Brittany Elko, Teen Miss Georgia Forestry, Brittany is the 16 year old daughter of Danny and Lisa Williams. She is a member of the competition cheerleading squad, Varsity Cheerleading Squad, Golf Team, FFA, Volunteer at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. Laura’s Platform is Child Abuse.
